Hello all,

My post on 5-27-09 about the Orchard Oriole in Geprag's Park in Hinesburg 
was of a heard bird only. We did not see it that day. Today however it was 
heard and then seen. 
I am going to explain the two locations.
On 5-27-09 (the heard Oriole):
Go up the path from the parking lot. Follow the bend to the right and then 
cross the wooden bridge. Now follow the bend to the left and then go 
straight. Just before you enter the open area is exactly where Dwight Cargill 
and I heard the Orchard Oriole that day.
Today's (heard and then seen Oriole):
Continue on the same path as above. When you reach the open area, turn 
right and go up the rising path. Follow the bend to the left and look for a 
bench. This is the first bench. (There is a second bench that you would reach 
if you continued along the path). 
Jim Osborn and I were sitting on the first bench (which faces south) when we 
heard the Orchard Oriole this evening. We were hearing it directly in front of 
us, in the wooded area. It was singing and began moving down toward the 
parking lot. We followed its' singing all the way to the parking lot and then 
located it in the only tree that is on the south side of the parking lot. It took 
a few minutes to get a clear look at it and found it to be a 1st summer male.
This bird has a black throat and black lores. It could easily be mistaken for an 
adult female if one does not get a great look at its' throat. We saw this bird at 
7:52 p.m.
I am not certain that tonight's bird is the same as the one that Dwight and I 
heard four days ago, but of course there is the possibility that it could be. . . .
