We received many complaints this morning of people experiencing major
delays when logging on to computers, opening documents from the
"files.uvm.edu" file server, and submitting print jobs. We traced the
problem to a missing firewall port exception for the Active Directory
domain controllers, resulting from a firewall change made at 3pm yesterday.
At 9:45am the firewall rules were updated to once again allow the
required traffic to flow though to the Active Directory domain
controller servers. We believe that this change has resolved all
currently reported problems. However, if you continue to experience
issues with desktop login, file server access, or printing, please
report the problems directly to me.
