Ours is an "opt out" letter to parents that includes news photos, TV news
and the web images. I believe it includes a statement about not connecting
names with faces without specific permission, but I can't put my hands on it
at this moment... Our secretaries create the "short list" of students who
cannot appear in pictures as they update information in Powerschool each
year, and that list is distributed to staff. This policy does not (yet)
include having students post on web 2.0 sites, but we are developing
separate guidelines for use of these tools that we will distribute to
parents. In that case it will be an FYI not a permission form, however
parents can certainly opt their student out if they feel strongly.
