I have noticed the following on Windows 7 installs, I’ve noticed this at
least 3 times.
Off line files/MyDocs take some time, synchronizations, and usually a
couple reboots before they are accessible from the client’s machine. I
speak of via the normal “My Docs” folder, be prepared for this when
Of course, as Geoff pointed out to me, you have the options to map a
drive directly to the files to get to necessary files quickly, but it
can be surprising and even panic invoking if you (and the client) are
not ready for it.
In one case, I was suddenly not able to find a client’s email profile on
the “MyDocs” directory where I put it. Then I noticed grey “X” marks by
some of the folders, a synchronization and reboot cured this issue on
most folders, the remaining were cleared up after a few more minutes.
This could present a problem if the client is using a laptop and wants
to quickly dash out the door before the proper synchronization has
happened, so I would advise to ensure a full synchronization has
occurred before departing and warn your client.
Hope this helps prevent some panic.
