We at the Vermont State Data Center realize that municipal officials are
terribly busy. However we urge you to at least take a look at the maps
that the Census Bureau sends you. There will also be an option to view
your maps online.
Any corrections to your boundaries made through BAS will be reflected in
the 2010 Census. If the Census Bureau has an incorrect understanding of
your boundaries, houses and people in your town could accidentally be
tallied for the town next door in the Census.
If you look at your BAS maps, you will know whether or not you need to
send corrections to the Census Bureau.
Please keep in mind, sometimes the Census may make errors when they do
their system-wide "updates." So there is always a chance that you could
see an inaccuracy here or there.
Towns will have until January 15, 2010 to let the Bureau know if you
would like to make corrections. And materials will be due back March 1,
