Thanks to JoAnne Russo I drove to Newfane early this morning and was able to get some 
photos of the Black Scoter. It's a life bird for me. It's a beautiful bird, glossy black with an 
bright orange knob on its beak. It was much smaller than I imagined. Here are three photos:

A black scoter was on a very small pond right across from the 4 Columns
Inn in Newfane.He's been there almost a week.
