Hi Birders:
Tis the Season to count birds in the Mad River Valley! With last night's
dusting of snow still visible on the Green Mountains, we hope your thoughts
are turning to the Mad Birders' Audubon Christmas Bird Count, which is
slated to take place on Friday December 18, 2009.
Our planning Pot Luck Meeting will occur this coming Tuesday December 1,
2009 at 6PM at the home of Jeannie Elias and Craig Goss. We are located at
2738 Center Fayston Road, which is accessible off Route 100 between Moretown
and Waitsfield. There is no mailbox or sign or numbers to identify our
home, so look for a Saw Horse, with a blue tarp tied around it. There are
also a couple of red reflectors. This is a 911 address, so that means that
our driveway is 2.738 miles up Center Fayston from Route 100. After you
pass Kew-Vasseur Road on your left, we are the second driveway on the right.
Memorize this information, or print this email and take it with you.THERE IS
LITTLE TO NO CELL SERVICE ON CENTER FAYSTON ROAD.SO YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO
CALL FOR DIRECTIONS EN ROUTE.
This is a real old fashioned pot luck, so bring whatever you are in the mood
to bring. No rules.
We will confirm team assignments, discuss counting protocol, distribute
forms (and maps if they are ready) and generally answer all questions having
to do with this year's count.
Folks who want to participate in the bird count by watching their feeders
that day are also welcome at the planning pot luck!
The Mad Birders' Christmas Bird Count will be followed by a celebratory pot
luck at the home of Scott and Pat Sainsbury in Moretown at 6PM on the 18th.
Call Jeannie at 496-4730 (evening or weekend) or 802 318-2259 weekday for
details, questions or information.
We hope to see you Tuesday night.
Jeannie
PS If you cannot attend the pot luck, you are still welcome to join us for
the count on the 18th. Just call or email me to get details on team
assignments etcetera.
