Dear Sir/Madam -This email is in response to a recent mailing from
the work-study office enquiring about the availability of positions
in current work-study labs.I'm excited to confirm that there are at
least 2 more spots for highly motivated undergraduates who wish to
learn skills in time-lapse epi-fluorescence microscopy.Duties will
involve preparing and mounting cells on microscopy chambers, setting
up automated time-lapse movies on the microscope, and data analysis
of fluorescent protein dynamics (during cytokinesis or endocytosis)
using imageJ and Excel (training in use of these analysis programs
can be given in lab). These openings provide fantastic opportunities
for students with genuine interests in laboratory research to gain
valuable experience in state-of-the-art fluoresecnce imaging and cell
biology. Like all members of lab, students will be expected to chip
in with some occasional standard lab chores (e.g. autoclaving, data
management).I'd be grateful if you could forward this advert to the
relevant office/website.Thanks for your time, Matt Lord.-- Matt Lord
