Samsung Electronics? Mobile Explorer program will be sending 10 people
to the 2010 Winter games to capture the experience through video, blog
posts and mobile updates. For journalism students, this is a real
world opportunity to cover one of the world?s major events, where
their reporting will be viewed by mass audiences on a global scale.
For 20 days, the Mobile Explorers will visit Vancouver sites, race for
athlete and fan interviews and discover the Olympic spirit along with
competing teams from Canada, South Korea, China, and Russia.
The Mobile Explorer Contest requires a video submission by teams of
two that should convey the contestants ability to attract an audience
and tell a story in a fresh, original way. Video submissions will be
accepted from December 3rd through January 8th.
In addition to sending the contest winners to the Olympics to cover
the event, there will be various prizes and a $5,000 CDN award for the
grand prize winning team.
How can you get your students involved?
· Post the opportunity in the school newsletter or job listing
· Ask professors if a contest submission may be suitable for
school project
· Share with student groups and councils
