I have the opportunity to apply for an internal grant and will be meeting with our associate dean in January to discuss possibilities for a research project. Although my topic is not definite, I am considering looking at hospitals that do not have libraries. (We have a plethora in Wyoming that meets this criteria.) This is a subject that is of importance to both hospital and academic libraries, as hospital librarians are concerned about downsizing and closures and academic librarians are frequently asked to fill that void, with the expectation that the service will be free. Many questions and unknowns are associated with this topic, so I am really having trouble focusing on this as a possible project.
If you could have only one answerable question about hospitals without libraries, what would it be?
