I agree with what several others have suggested: an iPod Touch with the
Synthesis calendar client would be a nice choice.
It's a great combination, a nice device that does a lot, and the user can
grow into. If they eventually want email sync, it's there. If they want
to browse the Internet, there's a nice browser available. If they want
some interesting application "there's an app for that" (sorry, NOT an
Apple fan boy, but couldn't resist). And it even plays music.
As for saying that changing devices isn't an optimal choice, I'd simply
remind you that Palm OS (Garnet) is dead.
