We use Google calendar for our lab and library signouts, but only as
view-only with teachers. We have 2 contact people who have access to
modify and add events. It can be a pain at times, but it keeps everything
straight and ensures the integration conversations (how the spaces are
being used, how the projects could be more effective, etc.)
