Hi Everyone,
Here is a contact for information on the US Navy programs for physicians.
Anne
My name is Brent Lacey. I'm an Internal Medicine intern at
Naval Medical Center San Diego. I recently graduated from the
University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, and I was in the
Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program. During medical school, I
spent a great deal of time mentoring younger medical students going
through the program. I remain passionate about providing what advice
and support I can to students thinking of military medicine as a
career choice. I want to extend the offer to your students.
I worked with over 60 pre-med students around the country last
year, and eight ended up deciding that Navy Medicine was the path for
them. I'm well connected with the medical officer recruiters in your
area, the HPSP coordinators in Washington, D.C., and the physicians
and residents here at NMCSD. I'd love to offer to answer any
questions your students might have about medical school or the Navy
scholarship programs. I remember it being hard as a 1st year medical
student to go through the process without any guidance, so I thought I
might be able to help some students with the process, whether they end
up choosing the program or not.
