There are a few free options using Active Directory.
1) Create a login script using con2prt.exe (exe needs to be dropped in the
windows directory), and deploy the script using Group Policy. There are
also other methods for creating a script, like VB. Everyone has their
favorite.
2) Use Group Policy Preferences (Server 2008 or Vista or 7 workstation
with server 2008 tools installed) to deploy the printer. You can do this
as either a user policy or a computer policy. Logically you would want to
do this as a computer policy but for some strange reason you can't create
a computer policy preference linking you to a printer's network share (if
you are using a print server). You can do this with a user policy though
(?). But on a computer policy preference you can link to a local port or
an IP port.
