Visited Button Bay State Park just after sunrise this morning and was able
to view the Ruddy Shelduck for about 10 minutes before it took off, heading
northeast. There was a lot of traffic overhead--Canadas and Snows--and
leaving Button Bay, so I'm not sure if the bird will return (perhaps he
simply went for breakfast). Of course, there are plenty of other attractions
to make a trip worth the while. There were loads of ducks this morning,
including:
Scaup
Goldeneye
Mergansers (Common)
Bufflehead
Gadwall
Am. Wigeon
Pintail
Blacks
Mallards
in addition to several hundred gulls (ring-billed)
and a few remaining groups of Canada Geese.
