We have a thin client lab at Vergennes Elementary. We purchased 20-25 units from DevonIT a couple years ago, and have purchased a few since. Our primary environment is served by Windows Server 2008, although I have Edubuntu set up too. The clients can connect to various types of sessions (windows, linux, citrix, and web kiosk).
It was the only way we were going to get a lab at this school. The clients are in the $200-$400 range. The you need peripherals. There are some things I would do different in retrospect, but overall it is working out very well.
Contact me off list if you want Patricia.
