I've played around with using a digital video camera on a tripod connected to a laptop streaming to skype...it worked pretty well but we also connected a good usb microphone so the whole class could be heard. that way you can swivel the tripod around to front and back of the room, zoom in and out, and move the camera away a bit from the laptop. we weren't recording though but I imagine you could record your skype call and save it as an avi.

yes we have it in the Middle School but don't have a camera of our own yet. The classes are on 2 separate floors, 4 different periods as well.

Have you looked into the LNV??? Seems like this might be a viable solution depending on how long this needs to happen and some other issues.
