I was pleased to see just one immature Virginia Rail this past Sunday, and
watched it for several minutes as it foraged on an exposed mud flat.
Although I have seen the species several times, they were just glimpses, not
what I consider a "life" observation. The rail was my 500th bird on my life
list, and I was happy that I saw it in an area of Vermont that I love. I
wish I could spend more time there. Just one more reason to live in
Vermont!
