Some of you will remember Kevin Elmer who did his undergraduate degree at UVM (I believe he majored in Geography) and took just about all the geospatial courses he could.  Kevin was in ROTC at the time and received a commission in the Army upon graduation.  He served as an intelligence office and never did much in the way of GIS, but upon landing in Afghanistan he was assigned to head up one the GEOINT cell at Bagram Airfield.  Kevin was very complimentary about the geospatial education he received at UVM and how what he learned stuck with him over the years and is now serving him well in what can only be a very challenging endeavor.
