Well, I'll tell you what, Robert, I'll go and search out the texts I read
some years back, when I have some time - I have over 5000 books in this
house.
Meanwhile, how about answering my question - what are chows? As in " Chows
are burning coal like it's going out of style, with scant regard for the
harm they create; and unfortunately that most noxious fuel is nowhere near
going out of style or out of reserves, in their country or mine." You cannot
be talking about either bunny chows, a South African speciality, or a dog
breed, and those are the only uses of the word I know as a noun.

What 'seeing' have you done on it? Bridges' 1-vol summary
would be a good start; but then one should get into the definitive
many-vol work by Sir Steven Runciman.
Meanwhile, tossing forth contradiction without authority is
hardly helpful.
