By the way, I tested the quick fix with a PDF file and when you download
it, you need to rename it with the extension or choose what program to
use to open the file.

Dear Janet,
Thank you. This is indeed a problem with the file transfer site. There
are two solutions:
1) The immediate fix:
a. Find the file you want to zip (even if it's in a folder).
b. Rename the movie so it does not contain an extension. For example
"AwesomeMovie.mp4" -> "AwesomeMovie"
c. If you have a folder full of files do b. for all of them.
d. Zip the folder and upload as normal. The files will work when you
download them.
2) The long term (better) fix: I have emailed the group that
administers the file transfer system with a description of your problem
and all the information I found. They will be looking into the problem
and resolving it in the near future.
If you have further questions please either respond to this email or
call us at 656-2604.
Thank you for contacting the UVM Computer Helpline, Charley, ETS

Subject: File Transfer Service Not Working
I have not been able to get the file transfer service to work yesterday
or today. After going through the usual routine I receive the following
error:
There was a problem storing [NAME OF FILE I UPLOADED]. Please try again.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jarlath
