i guess imaging can mean many different things in computerland - for
cems needs, it is a term for cloning
We do multicast cloning of dual-boot win7/ubuntu lab machines in groups
of 10-30 machines. we've been doing it with ghost for years as it does
really low level sector images. alas, the ndis drivers are timing out
with the newer SATA controllers on 82578nics & todays mongo-huge disks.
altiris sounds really good if it does what the advertising says:
will use existing ghost images
will deal with heterogeneous op systems
offers discount for existing symantec userss
offers an educational discount
will multicast & not just clone
alas, when setting it up on my test machine, i get a 'sorry, this is not
win server message..'
david houston must use something similar & i heard the business school
uses sysimage. any recommendations?

ps - business documents and teenagers are the two most frightening
things in the world..
