Victor,
I use a lot of different tools, but I don't do large batches.
I have a keen interest in trying something called FOG - open source. I've
also been keen to try something called DOLLY (yes, that's the name!).
Little time for this kind of R&D. FOG is still on my list, though. I've
shied from Altiris in the past due to the Winserver need, and now that
they are a Symantec product, I'm more hesitant!

I am also undertaking a more structured development of something called
DeployStudio, which I think holds a lot of promise.

VR:i guess imaging can mean many different things in computerland - for cems
VR:needs, it is a term for cloning
VR:
VR:We do multicast cloning of dual-boot win7/ubuntu lab machines in groups of
VR:10-30 machines. we've been doing it with ghost for years as it does really
VR:low level sector images. alas, the ndis drivers are timing out with the
VR:newer SATA controllers on 82578nics & todays mongo-huge disks.
VR:
VR:altiris sounds really good if it does what the advertising says:
VR:
VR: will use existing ghost images
VR: will deal with heterogeneous op systems
VR: offers discount for existing symantec userss
VR: offers an educational discount
VR: will multicast & not just clone
VR:
VR:alas, when setting it up on my test machine, i get a 'sorry, this is not win
VR:server message..'
VR:
VR:david houston must use something similar & i heard the business school uses
VR:sysimage. any recommendations?
VR:
VR:-V
VR:
VR:ps - business documents and teenagers are the two most frightening things in
VR:the world..
