Stopped today at a number of Lake Champlain sites from Arnold Bay to
Perkins Pier. Jim Mead and I chanced to meet at Arnold Bay where we
viewed a solitary male Black Scoter far out in the lake. In late
December, north of Potash Bay I saw two Black Scoters on December 28th
and one the next day. It could be that this bird is one of those two.
Also from Arnold Bay, in a group of 340 gulls in the middle of the lake
there was a bird that might be an Iceland Gull.
Shelburne Point had a modest variety of ducks and a splendid sunset; see
list below. Other stops had species and numbers generally as has been
reported in the last week or two.
