My kitchen window overlooks my bird feeder so I get to enjoy the birds while working in the kitchen. I was cleaning up breakfast dishes, this morning, when I spotted 3 hairy and two downy woodpeckers waiting patiently while a read bellied woodpecker feed at the suet feeder. The chickadees really do not seem to mind who is at the feeder. The dive in for sunflower seed or suet all the time. The titmice seem to be less sure of themselves. There are only a few at the feeder. Yesterday, before the snow, I had purple finches, three pairs of cardinals, a number of juncos and two white throated sparrows sparrows along with the birds that I am seeing today. I have not seen any redpolls recently and the wrens also appear to have departed from the area.
