I looked for this bird today between 1pm and 2:30pm with no luck. As a
consolation I saw a single American Tree Sparrow at the feeder on the corner at
the E. end of Swift St and a dark morph Rough-legged Hawk on Dorset St south of
Swift (first seen in a tree west of 1505 Dorset St). I admit that I succumbed
to the desire of Gyr at first and I thought this bird could be a really
slow-flying, occasionally-hovering, snow white-remiged Gyrfalcon that would
occasionally perch on twigs, so I followed it as it was chased by Ravens east
over Dorset St. I resighted it as it crossed Cheesefactory rd, and it continued
south and out of sight towards Shelburne Pond (where two folks were kite-skiing
on the ice, and I watched them ski instead of birds).
On the drive home I saw a Red-tailed Hawk in a tree near the big barn that
overlooks the north part of Shelburne Pond from Dorset St.
