Following up on Chip's comment. I haven't had a chance to get out an look for a couple days, but those who can might also want to drive a bit south (turn left) on 100b from where River Road and 100b intersect. The Scribner's fields continue along the river for a ways further West than where River Road ends. And, despite being a north-south road, 100b follows those fields heading west until the Winooski and the Mad meet. Then 100b turns south to follow the Mad, and the fields run out. There are lots of perimeter trees along those fields and a "tree island" in the middle that might be worth a look
