I was able to finally clear a path to my feeders and restock the sunflower feeder and replenish the suet in my suet feeder. The usual birds made their appearance. One of my kitchen windows faces the feeders which gives me the opportunity to monitor feeder activity. To my surprise I spotted two Carolina Wrens. The first of the Year! Still no grosbeaks or waxwings.
I have had numerous visits from at least two red bellied woodpeckers. I know that there are at least two as I watch one arrive at my feeder as another was leaving. Have not seen one today, but one was getting the last of the sunflower seeds yesterday. I was under the impression that they were common year around.
