Hello All (and apologies for cross-posting),

SUERC is seeking an AMS & Cosmogenic Isotope Scientist - Ref No: 00024-7

This post is available at either grade 7 or grade 8 depending upon knowledge
and experience.

Job Purpose

To perform environmental cosmogenic radionuclide analyses at SUERC,
including accelerator mass spectrometer operation, supervision of sample
preparation and contribution to the development of research programmes and
funding initiatives.

A Level 8 appointment carries the expectation of a leadership role in the
above activities with substantial responsibility for the on-going success of
cosmogenic isotope research at SUERC and within the UK community, and
development of new opportunities for novel applications of cosmogenic
nuclides and accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS).

SUERC is well equipped for cosmogenic isotope analysis with a 5 MV
accelerator mass spectrometer capable of 10Be, 26Al and 36Cl measurements
and a dedicated clean laboratory for target preparation. The successful
candidate will oversee the SUERC preparation laboratory and make a
substantial contribution to AMS operation. (S)he will have expertise in the
instrumentation and techniques and an enthusiasm to participate in and
develop an independent externally-funded research programme in cosmogenic
isotope science.

Further enquiries to Prof. Rob Ellam ([log in to unmask]) or Prof.
Stewart Freeman ([log in to unmask]). Please use the University of
Glasgow on-line application system for further details and instructions on
how to apply for this post.

This post has funding for 2 years in the first instance with the strong
