I had a Carolina Wren at my sunflower seed feeder this morning too. It
doesn't eat the seeds, it just pokes around inside tossing them out while
looking for insect eggs or larva I suppose. It does appear to be finding
something to eat in there anyway. And the ground feeding birds benefit from
what it considers useless chaff.

The loan bird at the house feeder this snowy morning is a Carolina
Wren, always a welcome sight! It was "chittering" like crazy.
