For folks who might be wondering how adult albatrosses fare in something
like this, he says they got soaked when the water washed over them and
are too wet to fly temporarily until they can dry out.
The people there raced around and rescued as many chicks as they could,
many of the survivors having been washed into tangled low vegetation
that trapped them but kept them from being pulled into the sea.
