Dear colleague,
We would like to inform you of our AGU session: Terrestrial Sedimentary
Record of Cenozoic Topography, Paleoclimate and Paleoenvironments
(T52). We welcome you to submit an abstract about your related research
to our session before the AGU abstract deadline on August 4th, 2011.
This year’s AGU meeting will be held in San Francisco, California on
December 5-9th, 2011.
Below is a brief description of our session. If you have any questions,
please let any of us know.
Description: This session seeks contributions that investigate the Cenozoic
terrestrial sedimentary record to 1) reconstruct topographic changes of
mountain ranges or plateaus to understand tectonic processes and 2)
reconstruct major climatic and environmental events and explore their
possible causes. We encourage submissions of field, laboratory and
modeling studies using and/or evaluating different proxies and
methodologies including, but not limited to, stable isotope geochemistry,
thermochronology, paleobotany, paleopedology, and paleoclimate
modeling that will stimulate debate on the interpretation of the Cenozoic
sedimentary record, and interactions between climate and uplift.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely
Session co-conveners:
Majie Fan: University of Wyoming (will be at University of Texas at
Arlington), [log in to unmask]
Katharine Huntington: University of Washington, [log in to unmask]
Nathan Sheldon: University of Michigan, [log in to unmask]
Daniel Peppe: Baylor University, [log in to unmask]
