Subject: [VTBIRD] Bennington Quest update.
Just an end of (migration) month update for Bennington Co. birders (and those who bird in Bennington Co.). We now have 186 spp. compared to 159 for all of 2010. We have 1016 completed checklists so far this year. 2010 had 330 for the entire year.
Our coffee prizes have all been won but, we have contests unique to our county still out there. Some have been accomplished but as we are spreading the wealth, previous winners are agreeing (so far) to keep those slots open. Results so far
Wood Thrush: April 27th, Bobbie Jean Booth
Baltimore Oriole: April 28th, David Reynolds
Chestnut Sided Warbler: May 2, Jim Phillips
Scarlet Tanager: May 2, Anne/Andrew Knafel
Contests unique to our county so far
Rose Breasted Grosbeak: April 26th Eric Seyferth
Indigo Bunting: Karen Tibbetts (by less than 30 mins after Eric graciously spread the wealth)
First to list 3 Vireos in a day: Kim Likakis
First to list 5 Flycatchers in a day: None
First to list 12 Warblers in a day: The Mad River Birders with Randy's North Shire group. During a Hildene count.
First to have 159+ species on their individual list: None.
31 lists entered to Vt eBird for the month of May. 5 people won this, Andrew/Anne Knafel/Hunter, Bonita Dundas, Jim Phillips, Terri Armata and Bobbie Jean Booth.
If anyone else has lists they are sitting on from May and wants the prize, please get them in soon and get ahold of me. We will try to get you in.
5 Flycatchers is still open to the best of my knowledge. The Knafels did get them but, as they won a previous prize, have deferred. Remember, I need you to forward your lists to me for this one. Also open is the 159 species on your personal list. We have 3 people over 100 species but, as diversity is at it's peak right now, there are many people within striking range for this. One good day with multiple lists could catch most people up fast.
Also remember, the captains are here to help. If you are having difficulties with your listing or, have questions about the process, please please please let us know.
Thanks and have fun out there. Kevin (not Marie)
