Just writing to recommend Steam Mill Brook WMA as a near NEK location
curiously unknown and neglected by birders. When I was doing Black-backed
Woodpecker work there, I found a nesting pair of them, consecutive
territories of Blackpoll Warblers in the more or less boreal habitat along
Brook, (many other warbler species). In the same habitat, many Townsend's
Thrushes singing, replacing Hermit Thrush as the most commonly heard thrush.

In case other birders are wondering, I'll send this to everyone. I =20
was delighted to find that each state Wildlife Management Area has a =20
two-page PDF with directions, a description about the habitat, info =20
about wildlife and a map. Google VT Wildlife Management Areas or go to
http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/wma_maps.cfm
Then click on Find a WMA.
Enjoy!
