Try this command as a user with admin rights to the computer:
rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ga /n\\<Print Server Name>\<Printer Share Name>
That should install the printer as a machine printer which will be available for all users of that computer. Just be sure to add the x64 bit drivers to the [Additional drivers] section of the shared printer.

Subject: win7 printing to legacy printer
Have a win7x64 system and trying to get it to set a network printer for users as they log on.
I have the Vistax64 driver from the mfgr (they dont have a W7)
On accounts that I set the printer up it up manually it works (example model
profile)
on accounts that are copying the default profile it says
"access denied" and lists the printer with a yellow caution symbol, instead of a green checkmark.
I used the "build model profile, del default, paste model profile as default"
system.
The user has correct permissions to the printer.
suggestions?
