Consider the number of unambiguously _non_tyrannical, democratically
eleced presidents who ended up dead, in prison for life, or in exile
because they displeased the U.S. -- i.e., they were loyal to their own
people rather than to EXXON, United Fruit, etc.
Here's a quick list. I'm sure others could be added.
Lumumba. Mossedegh. Arbenz. Juan Bosch. Aristide. Manuel Zelaya.
Now, of course, the "loyalty" demanded is not so much to one
corporation or one nation as to international capital. (It's called a
