Hey y'all!
I hope you've all had a great week and everybody's looking forward to
the weekend (FRIDAY FRIDAY)!
Several Music Ed majors have had a revelation: the fact that some of
our greatest resources as developing musicians are each other. As a
group, we have a wide variety of skills and musical interests such
that we all bring something unique to the program. That's why we've
decided to try something new...
Through the "Music Lessons Co-Op," we have the opportunity to educate
each other and practice fundamental skills such as a lesson planning,
pedagogy, and socialization skills with one another. I strongly urge
you to consider participating if you're interested in enhancing your
musicianship.
Karlie and I put two sign-up sheets on the NAfME board:
1) The first is for skills/instruments you would like to LEARN (or
improve on). Put your name, contact information, and the applicable
information (for example, I would put voice and ear training for mine).
2) The second is for skills/instruments you would be able to TEACH.
Put your name, contact information, and the applicable information
(for example, I might put Classical Percussion, music theory,
composition, beginner guitar, and beginner piano).
By having both of these lists in the same location, one would
potentially be able to find someone to teach, as well as someone to
teach them. In other words, it's basically a learning exchange (a
Co-Op if you will).
Please take a look and ask your friendly NAfME officers (and Karlie!)
if you have any questions. If we choose to participate and help one
another, I think this has great potential!
See you around the couches,
-Will
