Route 22A passes through Vergennes roughly north to south.

If coming to Vergennes from the north on Route 7 turn right on 22A and
proceed through Vergennes and cross the bridge over Otter Creek.

0.2 mile after the bridge turn right on Panton Road. Continue on this
road 2.8 miles to Slang Road, which will be on the left. Take Slang
Road. In about 0.7 miles, on the left, you will come to the beginning
of the field widely reported recently. It was skinned, graded, and a
small ditch dug parallel to the road earlier this year .... and thus has
about 30 acres of mostly muddy exposure that collects shallow water in
places. The amount of ponding depends on recent rains. It has not been
plowed or harrowed, so there are extended areas that are rather smooth.
Other areas are rutted or less smooth.

If coming from the south on 22A, as you begin to enter Vergennes (i.e.
there are more houses along the road and the speed limit is lowered)
look for Panton Road on the left. Continue as above.
