This morning, a compact raft of 39 ducks just off-shore at the Tri-town
facility had 19 female Surf Scoters (I could not confirm any were first
year males), seven male Black Scoters, nine female Black Scoters, one
male and one female White-winged Scoters, and two female American
Wigeons. Nearby were six Common Loons and a Horned Grebe.
Over 650 Canada Geese were on the pond at the former Polymers Plant on
Route 116 in East Middlebury, another 875 were in a field freshly
sprayed with manure along Lake Road in Bridport, 345 were in a cut corn
field along Greenbush Road in Charlotte, and 264 at Whiskey Cove,
Thompson's Point, Charlotte.
Three Black-bellied Plovers persist at Slang Road in Panton.
