Hello Vermont Birders:
I explored Geprag Community Park in Hinesburg for the first time this
morning thanks to that great article in the paper about Bruce MacPherson
over the weekend. Bird species diversity was not outstanding but lots of
birds (flocks) were flying over. The highlight for me was a flock of nine
Evening Grosbeaks (EVGR) which flew over heading SSW. I always get excited
when I hear "beer" being shouted.
The presenter for the GMAS meeting last week discussing boreal forests
mentioned that it was a pretty decent spruce bud worm outbreak this summer
so maybe there will be more EVGR around this winter.
Good Birding,
Eric Hynes
