Hi Jon,
With regards to your post last week on VTBird, I've personally never seen a
Cackling Goose in Vermont (or anywhere else, for that matter), but David
Sibley has blogged extensively about identifying Canada vs. Cackling
Geese. I would recommend reading both the blog post in the attached link,
as well as checking out some of the links at the bottom of the page. If
you did indeed see some Cackling Geese, it would be great if you could
enter your sighting in eBird (http://ebird.org/content/vt/),
http://www.sibleyguides.com/2007/07/identification-of-cackling-and-canada-goose/
