An unusual sight and sound when I was loading firewood this morning:  
Two Belted Kingfishers were right over my house, rattling and  
wheeling around together. I figure this was the first morning when  
the beaver pond out back had a skim of ice - so the kingfishers have  
decided it's time to head south.
