Ralph,
You can put your bird feeder out now. I live in West Arlington near to the Vermont Bird Place in Manchester, VT. It is the only Bird Place in Southern Vermont that I know of. There is a nice feed store in North Bennington that offers a good selection of bird feed and feeders. There may be a similar type of feed store in your area. I can say stay away from grocery stores and the like, could say the same for hardware stores unless you have an Agway in the area. I would go online to fine feeders. I have always found the Vermont Bird place a good place to shop (They have enough of my money) and they will ship feeders almost anyplace.
I feed almost exclusively black oil sunflower seed an thistle seed and use the peanut butter suet in my suit feeders.
