All morning there has been a brightly colored Dickcissel at our feeders
and adjacent shrubs. Ron Payne and I have been viewing it for the last
hour or so, and he will be posting pictures. We are still pondering
whether it is a female or first year male. We've got to within 20 feet
or so of it.
Anyone who wants to come see it is welcome to do so today anytime before
3:00pm. I'm afraid we can't invite visitors tomorrow due to our family
Thanksgiving. I'll repost after Thanksgiving if the bird is still around.
You can get to our house via Middlebury or Bridport. From Middlebury
take Route 125 west heading toward Bridport. After about 5 miles you
will cross a bridge, after which is Snake Mountain Road on the right
(there is a small cemetery at that corner). Go north on Snake Mountain
Road one mile. We are at 1101, on the left side of the road, greyish
green house. The feeders are south of the house.
From Bridport head east on Route 125. Just over 3 miles there will be
a small cemetery on the left by which is Snake Mountain Road. Turn left
on Snake Mountain Road and follow the directions above.
If I am not home today when you arrive, I've gone briefly on an errand
and will be right back.
Our home number is 462-2315 and my cell is 989-2429. I might not hear
either considering my tasks for the day.
