APX 10,000+ Snow Geese. WOW!!! Thanks for this post! Could you provide the specific location in Quebec of these Snow Geese? The trip to Dead Creek (100 miles) exceeds my travel budget, but it sounds as if this Quebec flock is much closer to where I live and I would love to see it. Maybe you've already reported it to EBird - even though it doesn't count for VT EBird :(
Oh well... Thanks again for this interesting post!

Subject: [VTBIRD] snow geese north of the border
Hi all,
The family and I decided to leave the country today to avoid all the Black Friday craziness (just kidding), and just to have a little adventure. On the way to Montreal, we came upon a corn field that was heavily covered with snow geese. We weren't birding, and the road was very busy, so we didn't stay sitting along the shoulder for long.
I've seen what has been estimated to be 5000 birds at Dead Creek (and confirmed to be close to that via Ian's aerial photography).
This flock appeared to be easily twice that size. It was quite a sight.
So, unless all these geese decide to skip Dead Creek on their way south, it appears that a supply of replacements is readily at hand for Vermont viewing.
