Thanks for the email. A number of years ago, some folks on the
committee tried to clean up some of the species on the state list whose
presence was simply listed as "historical." To that end, we added some
species where we had solid evidence and deleted some for which the
evidence was inconclusive. Although it would take me a while to dig up
the outcome of that endeavor, I believe that the fact that provenance
was lacking on the specimen led the committee to decide not to include
Marbled Godwit on the state list. Our first state records for
Thick-billed Murre are based on specimens at the Dead Creek HQ that have
excellent documentation. Without solid information on provenance, it is
hard to know exactly how to "count" these types of specimens.
