Well, December has started. 1 month to go. So far Bennington Co. has 195 species (actually 196 due to the Rufous which we can not yet count but, it is there). That means we only need 4 more species to hit the 200 mark. This is compared to last year's total of 159 species. Last year we had entered 330 lists. So far this year we have 1400. A huge increase in effort. I am hoping we can get that above 1500 this month. Easy enough if we can get over 100 lists for the first time since May. This also includes adding any old lists that you haven't had the chance to do yet. They still count. Remember, you don't need rarities or a new species to have the list be important. The list of birds feeding at your feeders during your morning coffee is great. To that end, I would like to call for another Feeder List Weekend this weekend. Friday through Sunday, take a moment to check your feeders and enter a list of what is visiting. Help us add to the number of lists and maybe spot something out of the ordinary.
