Phil Magnant and I went to the Mountain Valley Farm in Waitsfield,VT to
observe the Varied Thrush. We were there for about 2.5 hrs and were able to
see it several times. Phil spotted the bird high up in one of the Hemlocks
behind the stone wall. The bird went to the ground near where the seed is
scattered just once and we were not able to see it as we were in the
opposite side of the wall. After a few seconds it flew high up in to the
Hemlocks. We were able to take a few photographs when she was perched
high up the trees. Then it dissapeared for a while. Later on we re-spotted the
bird on some small bushes near the line of evergreen trees. It was great to
see this beautiful female Varied Thrush.
Thank you to Sue and Gib for the opportunity to visit their farm/home to see
this rare bird.
