YES!, as Henry Trombley stated, the Varied Thrush is still at the
Mountain Valley farm in Waitsfield. On this frigid morning, 4 Mad
Birders headed out to see it. The VT was observed at 9:53 am traveling
and feeding with a group of Blue Jays. They were moving between the
Hemlock trees and the Maple trees and feeding on the cracked corn on
the rock wall.
Gib Geiger now has June Kenney's famous Varied Thrush suet recipe from
last year, and plans to make a batch today. So, hopefully this
beautiful bird sticks around a while.
There's great birding in the Mad River Valley...good luck if you
decide to try for it.
