One of my clients has been processing research data on a computer
running Windows for Workgroups 3.11 and has, until recently, been able
to FTP to zoo to access and save the data in a more convenient location.
Both the FTP client and the filetransfer website are getting connection
refused errors (in addition to other browser errors). I've attempted to
change the network settings to allow the computer to share files on the
network, but am consistently getting an "MS-DOS error 25: Unknown error."
I have verified that the network card is working (IP address and ping
response). The 3.5" floppy drive on the machine is not functioning, and
transferring the data using floppy disks would be excessively slow in
any case due to the size and number of the files (~170MB of data per
subject). There are connectors for 25-pin and 37-pin serial devices as
well as a 50-pin SCSI.
Ultimately, we need to a) retrieve processed data from the machine and
b) finish processing a small number of data sets which are not hosted on
this machine. Any suggestions for either goal would be extremely
helpful. I can be reached off-list at [log in to unmask]
